Invitation letter: general details, how to register for the tournament, volunteer opportunities for players and coaches, advertising opportunities, and cheer ads
The SPBA is thrilled to announce they will again be hosting the Midwest Super Regional on Memorial Day Weekend, May 27-29th, 2017. This is the highest level Junior National Ranking Tournament in the Midwest Region of the USA and last year it was the first time a tournament of this level was hosted in the Midwest in the last 22 years. The tournament is sanctioned by USA Badminton and is one level below Junior Nationals. It counts for 70% Junior National Ranking points, and it is the last major tournament to count for seedings for the 2017 Junior Nationals. It will also count towards qualifying for the 2018 Junior International Trials which determines the US Junior National Team to compete abroad. 369 players entered the tournament last year making this one of the biggest junior tournaments in the whole country. We expect a great turn-out again this year!
This tournament will not only draw the top junior players across the country but many new up and coming players will have the chance to experience a high level junior national competition for the first time. We’ve also had some interest from local school children in spectating at the event! The state of the art facility hosting the event has a multi-tiered bleacher behind every court for great spectator viewing and a concession area that seats hundreds.
Events will be held in U11, U13, U15, U17, and U19 age groups for all 5 disciplines (Boys Singles, Girls Singles, Boys Doubles, Girls Doubles, and Mixed Doubles) across 12-14 courts (dependent on the number of entries).

With such a huge number of entries, it is really important that we have a lot of umpires to help out at the event! If you are a parent coming to the event from other regions and are available to help out as an umpire that would be wonderful! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org your availability!
If you would like to learn how to be an umpire and help out at the event, we have an umpire clinic we are hosting on May 19th from 6:30-10 p.m. at the SPBA. Online registration is available here!

Airport: The SPBA is about a half hour from Chicago O’Hare Airport and about an hour from Chicago Midway Airport.
Hotels: There is currently no official hotel for this event. We have offered official hotels for past events at the SPBA but have found that very few players take advantage of it, as everyone has a different idea of what their ideal hotel is. There are many good hotels in the area to meet your need within a few minutes from the club. The SPBA is located in Vernon Hills, an affluent and safe suburban neighborhood about 1 hour North of Chicago.
